Dilworth Fire Department conducted a training excercise with a control burn on October 27, 2007. The home was just a few miles north of the city of Dilworth. The Salvation Army assisted with keeping the firefighters hydrated. The department organized for breakfast by Sherrif Berquist at the fire department at 8:00 AM and then headed to the fire scene shortly after 9:15 AM. The building was inspected by the chiefs and training officers before the burn to ensure the firefighters safety. The building was used for several hours for training as several teams were led by the training officer who described fire behavior and some techniques for extinguishing the fire as well as ventilation.
The controlled burn was planned out several weeks in advance by the training officer and chiefs. The training was excellent for both new and old members alike. There were no injuries reported and The Salvation Army provided a meal at the completion of the training. Thanks to the training officer, all of the chiefs and The Salvation Army for making this a safe and productive training.
